Morale Survey Released!

  • The vast majority of NYPD officers who answered a new survey hate their jobs and believe they were a lot safer before Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton took office, according to a new survey by the city’s police union.

The polling of more than 6,000 of the NYPD’s roughly 24,000 rank-and-file revealed a resounding lack of passion for the job, with cops on average rating morale at just 2.49 on a scale of 1 to 10.

“The results of this survey prove what we’ve been hearing time and time again from members over the past two years — the job is more difficult than ever, the dangers are greater, and morale is extremely low,” said Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.

Roughly 87 percent of cops said the Big Apple has become “less safe” since the new administration took over at the beginning of 2014, with 55 percent of those respondents describing New York City as “a lot less safe.”
We can only wonder what a survey of the CPD would reveal, especially with the homicide numbers skyrocketing, morons running the organization into the ground and the ACLU redecorating the room. Too bad they never released J-Fledger's survey.

Wow. Truly shocking results. Given the current climate in this country with a President who acts so stupidly, can the results really be surprising? Eight years to make this country better and he succeeded in eight years moving this country backwards.

It always takes awhile to get used to new ways of doing things. NYC's mayor has introduced many new needed reforms and changes. Give NYPD a little time to adjust.

Like NYPD the CPD is going through a period of change for the better. Not to worry, all will end well.

No one has the courage to do a survey of the CPD, and no one in the administration would allow such a thing. Everything bad must be kept under wraps

Less safe for who? Everyone, or just survey takers?

The politicians are part of the problem, but I think the ACLU and the ministers are a bigger part of the problem. The challenge is to make the ACLU and the ministers to look evil and foolish.

I'd bet if they gave a morale survey to CPD now they would have to print it on toilet paper.

I love my job, the support from the citizens, media, politicians, bosses and court system is just wonderful. I'm so motivated to go to work. I don't see how you guys are so negative.

Wonder what our morale satisfaction is? With a mayor who does not fulfill his obligations, pension, equipment, hiring to a command structure that is totally laughable, Time to cut that in 1/2 and the alderthieves by 3/4 that would help morale, but then again with the new "bosses" who are given merit spots due to family connections, buying fund raising tickets, respect is gone!

There is nothing stopping anybody from initiating a career change. If the job brings you that much grief, move on.

A lot of (former) cops have done just that, and quite a few I know wonder why they didn't do it sooner.

"You can love the job, but the job isn't going to love you back"

OFF TOPIC but humorous. Another "TRAVON" has been shot in Florida. This one was burglarizing a house and got shot by the owner. He's black but don't know the race of the female victim that shot him.

Hint to people in Florida: Don't name your kid Travon

Why doesn't the FOP do their own survey of their own and then release the results.

Wish they had the DOJ do a "ride along" with the city accountants and the revenue department. Maybe they can tell us where all our tax revenue disappears to!

Would bet our survey would be 95% negative, it starts at the top from the president, all the way down to local politicians down to the joke of an exempt structure the "new kids on block" have no idea how to be the police! The gold star club complete failure was on full display during the Trump rally, police without turtle (safety)gear, without even a simple riot helmet as they lead from the rear and inside the command van! During the 90's bulls nonsense we had rear bosses many military vets, they led, they ordered gas teams,we had shields,we had helmets on we felt somewhat protected but this crew you have to be kidding us!

Oh my God! Can you imagine how bad a survey like that would be on the CPD? on a 1-10 scale it would be ZERO! Pension left, promotion scams, shit supervisors working half the hours as patrolmen, terrible court system, poor equipment, back stabbing, lying, lack of trust, silly and restrictive laws, silly dept orders, policemen that act like thugs, public that's hates us, politicians that hate us, etc etc.

I suggest we do a morale survey. My suggestion is to conduct it after November election results and after the DOJ leaves. I'd say morale is non-existent at this point but negative morale numbers will prevail if and when Foxx is sworn in and God-forbid Hillary. No one will be safe, especially in Cook County, Chicago.
